Untangling the sea video
Watch Igor D’India’s video to learn more about the work carried out through the Untangling the Sea project. Through field activities, research, and strong community involvement, we analyzed the life cycle of fishing nets and assessed the feasibility of a circular management model in Sicily.
Thanks to the active participation of fishers, divers, local authorities, and the Coast Guard, we were able to recover over 800 kg of ghost nets along the coasts of Terrasini and Syracuse. The project also gave rise to design workshops focused on the reuse and recycling of fishing nets, as well as awareness-raising activities on marine biodiversity and the importance of responsible tourism.
This is the enthusiasm, collaboration, and shared vision we need to protect the sea, together.
